Special Educational Needs - Bachelor of Education - Module 6 (PO 2017)

According to the study regulations, the MAP6 (according to PO2017) is an integrated oral examination of 30 minutes on both lectures of module 6 (SPF6a and SPF_6c) as well as on both seminars of the module (SPF6b and SPF6d).

Parental counselling seminar: Until further notice, the content of the counselling seminar (SPF6d) will be removed from the MAP because the dates for compact seminars are not offered across the board before the exam dates.

Preparation: Be well prepared! Attendance at the Module 6 courses is an important basis for passing the exam, but is generally not sufficient. The literature on the individual topics of the lecture can be found in the Moodle course. Please also use the guiding questions and the training camps for the lectures. Please also note the study tips at the end of this information.

Literature: The literature for the lecture serves to give you a deeper and broader understanding of the lecture content, which you will need if you are aiming for a very good grade. Please note that in some cases entire books or longer texts are uploaded to Moodle. You must then always check for yourself which parts of a text are relevant for you or the lecture.

Examination discussion: The aim is to have an "exam discussion" (as opposed to a pure question-and-answer scenario). This means that we can certainly discuss in the exam and you can have a theoretically and empirically based position on topics that we discuss critically. You do not have to agree with the examiner's opinion in the exam, but you should be able to justify your opinion (based on theory, literature or studies). Be prepared for interruptions, questions and discussions.

Assessment criteria

For the assessment of an oral MAP, the mere reproduction of content from the course is a necessary prerequisite, but not a sufficient criterion for a (very) good grade. Students who are aiming for a (very) good grade should be able to combine the various contents. We recognise this in the examination by the fact that you a) know and name various relevant theories, concepts and empirical findings from the courses, b) compare them with each other on the basis of relevant arguments, c) evaluate them and d) draw conclusions for school practice. The (correct) use of specialised language shows that you have dealt with the subject matter at a professional level. Another important criterion for a (very) good grade is that you are able to research new literature, know relevant empirical findings outside of the material taught in the courses and can critically reflect on the content. Further information on the assessment criteria can be found here.

Registration for the examination

The registration period for the examination will be announced in both lectures. Examination dates will be allocated via Moodle. Details on registration will be provided in the first session of all seminars in Module 6.

Transition to the MA Special Needs Education

Many students require the 7 credit points for Module 6 to transfer to the MA Special Education. To ensure that the Examinations Office has sufficient time to post the examination results, your grades must be reported back to the Examinations Office by 31 August. In this case, you must also have taken your examination by 31 August of each semester. We will offer sufficient examination times for this period. Please send an email to the ESE office (Ms Caspar, caspar{at}uni-wuppertal.de) if you would like to switch to the MA in the following semester and have not been allocated an examination slot before 31 August.

Selection of the examiners

In Module 6, you will be examined by all lecturers who have taught one of the above-mentioned courses in the current semester. It is not possible to select the examiners. You will only be informed by the Examinations Office who will be examining you once you have decided on an examination date. Examination registration takes place each semester via a Moodle course (see info box).
