Prevention, Intervention & Classroom Management

Information on the organisation and course of the seminar in the current semester can be found in Moodle. Please refer to the StudiLöwe commentary (of the respective semester) for the corresponding Moodle course.

Content and focus of the seminar

"Classroom management is not a programme, not a set of rules, not a parlour game, not a form of organisation - classroom management is the way of dealing with a school class in a way that reduces complexity, it is the compensation for the disadvantages that arise when you have to learn with several people at the same time." (Dollase, 2012, p.7)

Based on this background and this problem, the seminar will delve deeper into the proactive and reactive criteria (Evertson & Emmer, 2009; Hennemann & Hillenbrand, 2010) of effective classroom management. The aim is to familiarise students with practical approaches and methods for implementing the criteria by way of example and to be able to reflect on their use and impact in a way that is appropriate for the target group.
