Selected evidence-based concepts of developmental support in heterogeneous learning groups in the area of emotional-social development

Content and focus of the course

The group of people in the context of the focus on emotional and social development is extremely heterogeneous. Teachers therefore need extensive and well-founded knowledge in order to meet the needs of these pupils. For example, they must be able to theoretically analyse the effectiveness of intervention approaches and adequately assess the empirical evidence in order to provide their pupils with the most adaptive support possible.

Against this background, the elective seminar is dedicated to the question of which school intervention approaches can be classified as promising in the context of priority disorders and associated areas of support in the specialisation area of emotional and social development. In terms of content, the seminar builds on the knowledge acquired in the SPF3a lecture. The following competences should be acquired in the course:

  • You will be able to describe the group of people in the context of the support focus Emotional and Social Development (FSP ESE) and know associated forms of disorder and areas of support.
  • They will be able to explain the principles of the Response-To-Intervention (RTI) model for the organisation of diagnostics and support in the FSP ESE and critically reflect on the model.
  • They are familiar with disorder-specific diagnostic concepts and can locate these in the RTI model.
  • They will be able to explain in detail the primary disorder patterns in FSP ESE (symptoms, aetiology, prevalence).
  • They can explain selected areas of support associated with these disorders in detail (theoretical and empirical foundations).
  • They know selected intervention options in the context of these support areas, can explain their theoretical and conceptual foundations and know empirical results on their effectiveness.
  • They will be able to assess the evidence base for these intervention options.
  • They will gain an insight into the practical implementation of these intervention options.
