How do I find my topic?

Before contacting a supervisor, you should generally think for yourself about the topics you would like to write your thesis on. As a rule, we supervise empirical theses and research projects at Arbeitsberech. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the topic before contacting us. There are basically two starting points for choosing a topic:

Starting point 1: You come to the first interview with an idea or question

Starting point 2: You are taking part in a student research project in the department

From both starting points, you can then jointly develop questions for your thesis or research project. Always discuss the basic thematic orientation of your thesis with us at an early stage and clarify for yourself in this discussion whether we are generally suitable for you as a topic provider / supervisor. Even if your thesis still seems a long way off, it often makes sense to get in touch with your supervisor 12 to 18 months before the topic is set (registration with the ZPA).
